  • Meg and David | Charlottesville Wedding at The Local

Meg and David managed to long-distance-plan a wedding in only a few months – and that alone is a feat.  They flew from their current home in Utah to beautiful Charlottesville last weekend for an afternoon wedding and incredible meal with family and friends.  Both families stayed the weekend at a great new B&B called The Inn at 400 West High.  “New” is a relative term, because the original construction dates back to 1900!  A great spot, full of charm, for a few getting ready shots…

Many thanks to my fiance Nina, for helping cart the three of us around and get so many pre-ceremony shots that otherwise wouldn’t have happened! Time for a “first look” and a series of portraits around Charlottesville – the Del, Wesley Mem, and the classic UVa Lawn…

  • Caroline and Steven | Southern Maryland Wedding – Leonardtown

Early in the afternoon on his daughter’s wedding day, Caroline’s father pulled me aside and said, “You know Ben, I’ve got a great sunset on order for tonight – you better be ready!”   He wasn’t joking around.

Caroline and Steven’s sunset ceremony took place on the grounds of her parents home.  On the waterfront just off of Breton Bay, the place was decorated to the hilt in fall color with pumpkins, mums, and ball jars (not to mention a cornstalk altar).  The ceremony, led by Caroline’s grandfather, ended with a kiss just as the sun kissed the horizon.  Most folks hung around for a while taking in the view and enjoying the company before heading to the Crystal Room for an evening of fun.

A few of my favorites from the day are below (and there are many more after the jump) – as always, comments are appreciated.  Hope you enjoy!

  • Katelyn and Joe | Flora Corner Farm Wedding

Katelyn and Joe were married the last weekend in September on a sunny but cool fall Saturday.  Their rustic wedding was “tandem-bike” themed, from cake topper, to programs, to a REAL tandem bike!  Many friends and family (from all over the country) came down in support of the newly minted Mr. and Mrs. Scrittore, and were rewarded with one heck-of-a good time.

Kate and Joe had quite possibly the most easy-going demeanor of any couple on their wedding day… ever.  It was a pleasure just to be present at their wedding and getting to photograph it was an added bonus.  Hope you all enjoy a few of my favorite images…

  • Kristal and John – Waldorf Wedding Photography

Kristal and John’s wedding happened to fall on a rainy summer Saturday.  Luckily we managed to dodge much of the weekend rain as we moved from a beautiful ceremony at Sacred Heart Church in La Plata, to the Jaycee Community Center in Waldorf for dinner (including delicious balls of crab meat – oh how I love Maryland) and plenty of celebration.  These two go places in style (a stretch hummer?!)  and it was clear throughout the day how much they care about one another.  Thanks to Kristal and John for asking me to be a part of their day.  I had a blast celebrating with you, your family, and your friends.  Best of luck, guys!  Hope you all enjoy this quick preview…

  • Impromptu Engagement Shoot – Washington D.C.

About 9:45pm Sunday night, at the beautiful WWII memorial on the DC mall, Kenneth asked if we wouldn’t mind photographing him and his girlfriend for the next few minutes… you can see for yourself the outcome of the next 3 minutes… 🙂

It’s times like these that really make you love being a photographer.  I was in the right place, at the right time, and happened to have the equipment to do this beautiful moment justice.  Best of luck guys!

  • Erika and Jered | Southern Maryland Wedding | Mary’s Hope on Church Cove

Erika started her June wedding with all the useful fixins: OJ and Champagne :).  After hair and makeup at home, we drove to the beautiful old home place at Mary’s Hope on Church Cove. Mary’s Hope has everything a photographer (and couple, for that matter) could ask for – a beautiful waterfront property with a beach and huge lawn, great options for entertaining both indoors and out, a gazebo, and a tree swing.  No really, that’s all anyone needs!  Here are a few of my favorite images from the day, and there are many more after the jump…
